💦 Why is my knife beginning to rust or have black stains?Updated 7 months ago

The knife may begin to rust or develop black stains if it is not properly cared for or if it is exposed to moisture for extended periods of time.

Carbon steel does rust because it lacks the corrosion-resistant properties of its stainless steel counterpart. Although it’s stronger and more durable than stainless steel, carbon steel may rust and corrode when exposed to moisture. Even small amounts of moisture, including moisture vapor in the air, can cause carbon steel to rust. Furthermore, carbon steel is less ductile than stainless steel.

You can try these simple steps to clean the knives:

1. Rub the blades of the knives with baking powder.

2. Let it sit there for a couple of minutes.

3. Wipe with a clean cloth.

4. Rub both sides of the blade with oil and store as usual.

Just like cast iron, your Cavemanstyle knives must be cleaned and oiled after each use
